As someone who is a visual storyteller and not a book cover designer, but who has had a book cover request land in her inbox this week, this made me laugh and terrified me in equal measures 🙈
I certainly appreciate that supportive kindness (and promise not to abuse the offer). Like all work requests that land in my inbox I try and keep it at arms length until it’s actually a legit job so for now I will be reading your archive and trying to absorb the wisdom you’ve already shared whilst waiting to see what materialises 🙂
I appreciate that! And I think that's a good mentality for almost-projects. I've certainly been burned by getting too excited about something that didn't end up materializing.
was wondering if u know anymore resources on kerning? in uni for graphic design and i have somewhat mastered photoshop but indesign is just so difficult to me🥲
Yup, this all checks out. Glad I’m not the only one who finds printers’ templates utterly baffling! Love how every single one will, without fail, introduce some new bit of obscure/made-up terminology that you’ll have to google.

Hehe. You can do it!
Optimistic and kind of you to say so. I’ll no doubt be sharing (crying and asking for wisdom) further down the line.
Happy to help if I can 🙂

Thanks for reading—I hope it helps!

Here’s a game to help you practice and learn kerning 🙂

This was hilarious and in some strange ways very relatable, as a freelance writer -- I guess a gig is a gig is a gig! LOL!
SUPER EXCITED for this new series, let me tell ya'!
Ha! I'm glad to hear it was relatable :)
I'm excited too. I think you're gonna love it.

Oh that makes me so happy to hear, haha. I had one mechanical recently where the AD admitted the template was not only confusing, but flat out wrong.
Love to see this peek inside the process!
Love the notebook shots! So fun to peek inside the creative process.
They are often far more ugly than this spread 🙂
